The Angelo State University Theatre performed their production called “The Thanksgiving Play” from Nov. 16 to Nov. 19, in the ASU Modular Theatre at 8 p.m. Dinner was provided from 6:45-7:30 p.m. to be enjoyed during the show.

The play, a comedy directed by ASU’s Daniel Anderson and written by Larissa FastHorse, features a small team trying to hold a school play about Thanksgiving despite none of them having Native American heritage, so they struggle to figure out how to make it realistic, inoffensive and entertaining all at the same time. Logan, played by Kate Yantis, is an ambitious director with limited resources and under threat of dismissal who desires to make a school play that will please everybody while staying true to her activist ideals. Cayden, played by Mitchell Martinez, is a knowledgeable history teacher and aspiring actor who prioritizes accuracy over sensitivity and sees this play as his big break. Jaxton, played by Ryan Ezell, is an amateur actor and Logan’s romantic partner who supports her in ensuring the play is successful and tries to reign the others in but gets swept up in the excitement himself. Alicia, played by Kalli Sprawls, is a straightforward, professional actress who is unable to understand Jaxton’s attempts at making the play more “socially conscious” and is simply content with playing any role she is given. The interludes were performed by Brianna Kincaid, Milo Brannan and Lane Hale.

Their next performance will be of Arthur Miller's “The Crucible”. It will be held from Feb. 22 to March 3, 2024, at the ASU Modular Theatre.
